A CALL TO ARTISTS: This year San Francisco, Barbie, and Ken are re-doing it, re-using it, and re-inventing it all over again! A Date with Barbie!

Film & Video
All submissions must interpret, comment on, or criticize what Barbie or Ken mean to you.
Dolls that are acceptable are: Barbie and Barbie like dolls, Christie, Courtney, Gillian, Kayla, Midge, Ken and Ken like dolls, Raquelle, Skipper, Tia, etc. Works not including an "Altered" Doll will not be considered for this show.
WHERE: TBD: I am working with the City this year and flirting with many a gallery. The show will probably extend for several extra months. Keep an eye on our website for the final results of our very Barbie contract negotiations.
WHEN: September 7th, 2010 to October 3rd, 2010 (and possibly beyond!)
Artist Reception: Friday September 18th
Closing Reception: Thursday September 30th
DROP OFF AND SET UP of all work is Tuesday September 7th from 2:00 PM until 8:00PM.
PICK UP of all art is Sunday October 3rd after 5PM. We are not responsible for any artwork left after October 3rd. If you are an artist residing outside of the San Francisco Bay Area and your work is selected for the exhibition, you are solely responsible for coordinating the return of your artwork and shipping costs, which include packing labor, packing material, postage, and insurance, etc. Altered Barbie is not responsible for any work left after the pick up date.
SALES and SPLIT: When something is sold, the artist will receive 50% of the proceeds. All payment will be sent out within 30 days from the closing date of the exhibit to the best of our ability, unless the buyer has delayed payment for some reason, of which we will fully
inform you. All work must be for sale, no nfs items will be accepted.
ENTRANCE FEE: Jury and Publicity Fee:
$45.00 for one year on the web site and entry to the exhibition.
NUMBER OF PIECES ALLOWED FOR SUBMISSION:
The exhibition: a maximum of 6 pieces per Artist
The web site: a maximum of 10 pieces per Artist
Altered Barbie registration, Deadline: July 31st, 2010. Please remit all information to the web site. All Artists will be informed of their entry to the show by August 7th, 2010.
Art to be considered for Promotion Materials, Deadline: Friday July 15th, 2010. Artwork will be selected for promotion on web-sites, post card, e-vite, and images for the press.
Art to be considered for our Calendar, Deadline: Friday July 15th, 2010, Format: 8 1/2 X 11 landscape.
Art to be considered for our T-shirt, Deadline: Friday July 15th, 2010.
Please send your high res images through yousendit.com or mail us a CD, addresses listed below. The images should be 300dpi or higher. Dpi translates as pixels to the digital image. Again, all submissions must interpret, comment on, or criticize what Barbie or Ken mean to you.
PUBLICITY: ChatterBox will send a formal press release to all pertinent media outlets, including newspapers, magazines and local broadcast companies
INSURANCE: Although every precaution will be taken to assure the safety and security of
accepted artwork, please be aware that artwork is submitted at your own risk and ChatterBox does not insure individual submitted artwork against theft or damage.
