‘MOTION AND STILLNESS’ – Sumi ink on rice paper monoprints by Joan Miro
“My work reflects my ongoing fascination with the grace of a line, the shapes in nature and the human spirit. Many years ago I created a method of making mono prints by painting on glass with a sumi brush and sumi ink. A piece of rice paper is then rubbed on the glass and one print is pulled. These images capture a moment of beauty and grace.
In my never ending search for those special moments, I travel, take photographs, do art, reach out to people and always remember to see!” – Joan Miro

THERE IS STILL LIFE IN A STILL LIFE – Contemporary variants on the still life genre in iterations from abstraction to realism and all points in between. Curator: Matt McKinley
Featuring: Dannell Powell (featured artist, Lower Level Gallery):
Mannequin Art for the Masses! The Mannequin Chronicles began accidentally. In the course of life, the author came across a mannequin. (Well, you never know when you might need one.) She then came across a head. (Already having a mannequin, she might as well acquire the head.) In the natural progression of things, the author put them in her car and began photographing. To the delight of family and friends, she brought them on outings. She eventually acquired more mannequins and took them on little adventures. (The family was quite pleased to assist.) Many outings, adventures, and photographs later, The Mannequin Chronicles emerged!
