McKINLEY ART SOLUTIONS ANNOUNCES
TOUR SAUSALITO – AN ART ADVENTURE
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, October 3, 2007 – McKinley Art Solutions, the art consultation firm of San Francisco-based independent curator Matt McKinley, is the host for a lively evening of art and dinner on Friday, October 9, 2007 5:30 - 9:30pm.
Specifically designed to appeal to discerning art collectors seeking to begin or enhance their collections through the acquisition of established Bay Area artists, this art adventure tour features specially arranged studio visits and presentations by ICB artists Sue Averell (Thiebaud inspired urban landscapes), Aiko Morioka (evocative bronze, stone and clay figurative sculpture) and Rick Begneaud (mixed media abstractions influenced by his uncle, Robert Rauschenberg). The historic ICB Building, celebrating its 65th anniversary this year, is located at 480 Gate Five Road, Sausalito CA 94965.
Preceding the art adventure tour is a traditional eight course prix fixe Chinese feast at Feng Nian (2650 Bridgeway, Sausalito CA 94965) convening at 5:30pm. Of course, wine is included! The cost per individual to attend is $49 and for couples, $90.
Matt McKinley sees these ‘art adventures’ as a way to introduce a wide variety of individuals to the possibilities of discovering and collecting original works from local artists. “The breadth and scope of diversity in artworks defined by the ubiquitous label of ‘contemporary’ can make the process of identifying current art trends and developments a daunting task. I see myself as a tutor, of sorts. Not in the sense that I want to dictate what is ‘good’ or ‘bad’, but from the standpoint that through direct contact with the artist I hope to help people discover their own subjective understanding of visual arts.” In addition to his role as Chief Curator at ARTworkSF since 2003, Matt has been an invited speaker for the Small Business Association of San Francisco, consultant for the exhibit, “Reversing Vandalism”, sponsored by The Friends of the San Francisco Public Library, a working member of the Bay Area Artist’s Guild and Curatorial Associate with BorderZone Arts, an international non-profit art and program organization. Matt has also concepted, curated and designed fundraising exhibits for SOMARTS Gallery, San Francisco Sex Information, The Artists’ Resource Center of San Francisco and Project Open Hand.
