Being an artist in San Francisco takes creativity, business savvy, strength, and, above all, resilience. Explore the meaning of and your broad interpretation of Resilience in the face of change, growth, evolution, and the transforming landscape and creative space of San Francisco. 

The winning artwork will be used for the 2014 SF Open Studios Campaign, including cover artwork for the Guide (a full-color, 172-page catalog with 15,000 print run), as well as promotional advertising in various publications, outdoor advertising, print and online broadcasts, and other promotional vehicles.

With a handful of glitter and a roaring blast through a dented megaphone, Arc Gallery announces a call for art based on the inherently visual musical world of Mr. Tom Waits.   "Like a Tom Waits Song" will shine a bright dingy yellow spotlight on artwork in all media and all genres, from figurative crooked scarecrows wearing black bowler hats, to narrative environments inhabited by surreal Waitsian characters, to the abstract, the conceptual, the absurd and the down-right bizarre and everything in-between.

The goal of the Georgia Fee Artist | Writer Residency is to support and invest in emerging artists and writers, to provide an opportunity for them to advance their work and explore and engage with the cultural landscape of Paris, to encourage experimentation, and to increase exposure of their work to an international audience.  The application period for the Summer 2014 term (July-August) of the residency will open February 10th, 2014.

ArtZone 461 Gallery announces its search by juried competition for “Introductions 2012” Artists.  The subject is REALISM.  Five winners will be selected to participate in a group show at ArtZone from March 10 to April 8, 2012.  Following the group show, and an extended entry deadline, ArtZone 461 Gallery will offer one winner a solo show from April 14 - May 20. The Art on Market Street Program, which has commissioned new artwork by Bay Area artists on an annual basis since 1992, includes a bus kiosk poster series and other temporary projects that take place on San Francisco’s main thoroughfare.  For the kiosk poster series, the Art on Market Street Program commissions three consecutive three-month poster exhibitions annually. Each poster series consists of a set of six original and related designs that are professionally reproduced and printed as six sets of posters, 68 inches high by 47 ¼ inches wide (trim size), for installation in 36 bus kiosks on Market Street between 8th Street and the Embarcadero.  All artists’ designs must be approved by the Arts Commission and are expected to be appropriate for a broad public audience.

The Napa City-County Library invites artists to apply to a juried competition with award winners’ work displayed in the Napa Main Library.
