An invitation to San Francisco Bay Area artists to show work in select Supervisor's Offices in City Hall, San Francisco.  This CFA is intended for artists interested in displaying work in the offices of Supervisors Mirkarimi and Campos, respectively.  PLEASE NOTE: All artists within the San Francisco Bay Area are invited to submit their work, however PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO ARTISTS LIVING WITHIN EACH SUPERVISOR'S DISTRICT.  There are NO SHOW FEES for submitting work or participating in this opportunity.

25-Jun-10 Recology SF - Artist in Residency Program - deadline AUG 31


The goal of the Artist In Residence Program at Recology San Francisco is to use art to inspire people to recycle more and conserve natural resources. The company provides selected local artists with the opportunity to create art using materials they gather from San Francisco's refuse. This includes 24-hour access to a well-equipped studio, a monthly stipend, and an exhibit at the end of their residency, but artists seem most excited about having 24-hour access to the materials.

The San Francisco Arts Commission's goal is to commission permanent durable artwork of the highest aesthetic quality for the Palega

Recreation Center and Playground site. Through this RFQ we intend to establish a candidate pool of professional artists for consideration

Opportunity for several local (Alameda country preferred – other SF Bay Area OK too) Native American/Indigenous artists to participate in a juried group show at the JanRae Community Art Gallery at the Women’s Cancer Resource Center Gallery in North Oakland.  The jurors for the show are Ruth Villasenor (Chiricahua Apache & Mexican and identifies as Two Spirit), Janeen Antoine (Sicangu Lakota) and Margo Rivera-Weiss.  Contact producers directly for more information.

Third Annual North Beach ArtWalk September 25 - 26, 2010 North Beach visual artists, poets, musicians, performers: This is your chance to show your work to local, Bay Area, and international visitors, in your own North Beach studio or a local business. Priority deadline to sign up and get on the ArtWalk map for $25 is June 15, 2010. Absolute deadline is June 30; the late deadline fee is $50.
31-May-10 ARTIST GRANT: Individual Artist Commission (IAC) in Visual, Literary, and Media Arts


Grants of up to $10,000 to individual artists living and working in San Francisco, to stimulate the creation and presentation of high-quality works of art throughout the city’s neighborhoods.

The San Francisco Veterans’ Memorial Project will create a veterans memorial in Memorial Court, which is part of the War Memorial Complex, situated between the War Memorial Opera House and the Veterans Building.  Framed by San Francisco City Hall, the Veterans’ Memorial will honor the extraordinary dedication, commitment and sacrifice of those who have borne the battle and will offer a site of contemplation to reflect and to remember

03-Apr-10 RFP: MAN AS OBJECT: REVERSING THE GAZE deadline APR 14


The Women’s Caucus for Art (www.nationalwca.org), a leading supporter of women artists since 1972, is requesting art on the theme of “Men as Object: Reversing the Gaze”.  This proposal for an exhibition for Ceres Gallery is a collaboration between the Northern California, South Bay Area and Michigan WCA chapters and is open to all US women artists.

17-Mar-10 SHIPYARD TRUST FOR THE ARTS (STAR) ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM 2010 - 2011

This grant for visual or cross disciplinary artists living or involved in the Bayview / Hunter's Point neighborhood in San Francisco gives the recipient the opportunity to have a full-time studio at Hunter's Point Naval Shipyard, including participation in both Spring and Fall Open Studios events.

03-Mar-10 BLUE PLANET - deadline to submit APR 24

 The Pacific Region Women’s Caucus for Art is sponsoring “Blue Planet” an Eco-Art exhibition on the theme of water. This show is open to all artists living in California and all national WCA members with all media accepted.  This show will be at SOMArts Cultural Center in San Francisco from June 19 to June 26th and is juried by Eco-Artist Kim Abeles.  The deadline for entries is April 24th, 2010.

Art and nature merge in this annual outdoor exhibition at The Ruth Bancroft Garden. Juried by Carrie Lederer and Ann Weber. This benefit show for the garden will kick off on Father's Day Weekend with a Friday evening Preview Party with the artists. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served and there will be live music. Advance tickets are required for the Preview Party.

"Control" is a loaded word, evoking both positive and negative images: in control, out of control, controlled, controllable, control freak, social control (etiquette), political control (censorship), and on and on. The issue of control well merits exploration and representation by women artists, including the positive aspects: internal, external, involving people, space, process, materials, high tech, low tech, politically correct - or not. Also included in this exhibition will be selected artwork by the young women serving detention time in a juvenile detention center.  Show juried by Guerilla Girls West.
